Are you trying to lose weight or get in shape? Tired of the same old boring gym routines and aerobic workouts? Still looking for that perfect exercise and fitness routine? Are you ready to feel good about yourself and have fun at the same time? Welcome to Kangoo Jumps, the latest trend in motivational fitness that is literally bouncing the country off its feet.

Kangoo Jumps (KJ's), originally developed in Switzerland for the purpose of knee rehabilitation, are spring-loaded boots which have recently exploded in popularity due to their ability to provide a safe, fun, and dynamic core workout for young and old alike. Users of Kangoo Jumps range in age from 6 to 92. Due to their rugged build, KJ's can be used both indoors and outdoors and on virtually any surface. Through the use of rebound exercise and the three primary forces of gravity, acceleration and deceleration, Kangoo Jumps affect the entire body at a cellular level. NASA is quoted as saying that rebound exercise "is the most efficient and effective exercise ever devised by man."

The positive benefits of rebound exercise, achieved through the use of Kangoo Jumps, are just too numerous to list. I will try and highlight some of the most important features. Let's get started.

Weight Loss

Kangoo Jumps are proving to be one of the most effective weight loss methods of our time. As well as being fun, rebound exercise with Kangoo Jumps burns more calories than most traditional means of exercise.

Kangoo Jumps work at the cellular level, through our body's lymphatic system. We all know about the heart pumping blood and oxygen to all vital body organs, but many people are unaware of the importance of the lymphatic system. Inside the lymphatic system are cells which are responsible for transporting poisonous toxins out of our body. Why is this important as it relates to losing weight? Because if we allow these toxins to build up in our body, they eventually become stagnant and lead to the build-up of that awful thing we all hate, cellulite! In addition, unlike the heart, the lymphatic system does not have its own internal pump. The only way to stimulate the action of the lymphatic system is through exercise. The rebound exercise achieved through the use of Kangoo Jumps stimulates the lymphatic system, increases one's basic metabolic rate (the rate at which we burn calories), and allows for rapid weight loss and an increase in muscle tone.

In summary, the more sluggish the lymphatic system, the less chance we have of losing weight and keeping that weight off.

Running - Jogging - Walking

When running, jogging, or walking in traditional footwear, tremendous impact stress is placed upon the lower joints of the body, including the spine. Over time, this recurring impact to the hips, knees, shins, and ankles can lead to painful and debilitating injuries, such as shin splints and stress fractures, just to name a few. The bouncing mechanism used in Kangoo Jumps effectively reduces the impact shock on the joints and spine by up to 80%. The weightless feeling experienced while walking, running, or jogging in Kangoo Jumps leads to an increase in physical stamina and, ultimately, the prevention of injuries in the first place.

Medicinal Benefits

  • In addition to providing rapid weight loss and preventing impact shock to the spine and lower body joints, Kangoo Jumps are recommended by many medical practitioners for the following purposes.
  • Orthopedists - Pain reduction and the prevention of joint problems.

  • Sports Medicine Physicians - After surgical procedures or injuries, Kangoo Jumps are used for rehabilitation, conditioning and strengthening purposes.

  • Physiotherapists - Recommended for healing of the spine, other diagnosed conditions, and rehabilitation.
  • Chiropractors - Utilized for posture, balance, coordination, and flexibility. Kangoo Jumps also help strengthen the spine by maintaining the health of the intervertebral discs. These are the discs commonly associated with degenerative disc disease, bulging and herniated discs. These disc conditions often lead to severe pain due to entrapment of the sciatic nerve, the longest nerve in the human body. The stronger the muscles surrounding our spine are, the less prone the spine is subject to injury and re-injury.
  • General Practitioners - Used for overall cardiovascular conditioning, obesity problems, constipation, bladder weakness, and lack of energy, which can eventually lead to depression.
  • Pediatricians - Kangoo Jumps are safe for children age 6 and up and address motivational issues, help to influence learning and concentration, and aid in fighting obesity. Kids love KJ's!
  • Ophthalmologists - Believe it or not, Kangoo Jumps are actually beneficial in vision enhancement.
  • The health benefits associated with Kangoo Jumps are reason enough to want to use them.

You have written a useful hub here. Because my joints receive enough jolts when I jump and spin while figure skating, I've been jumping on a trampoline on days I can't make it to the rink. On days that I can't skate, I find jumping gives me an energy boost. I haven't seen Kangaroo Jumps in my area but I am interested.

I have a debilitating back injury and was very skeptical about using these, despite what I had read. I ordered a pair and couldn't believe how great they worked. They literally are like walking on air. I am using them as a rehabilitative tool. I never want to take them off once I put them on. I also find that rebounding does indeed give me a sense of euphoria. I ordered mine directly from the site and received them in two days. Keep me posted if you decide to give them a try. Thanks for visiting!

Great hub, I am going to check into these. I got a rebounder a couple of years ago to help with back and spine issues I was having. But,these shoes would provide more variety in my workouts than just jumping up and down.

Sounds like a fun alternative to my workout and a great way to reduce my back pain during runs. Does it require some practice and balance to use, though? Voting this Up and Useful.

They were a little intimidating at first, when I took them out of the box. However, I slipped them right on (it is kind of funny and cool being 6 inches taller while wearing them), and had no problems whatsoever. The only balance issue is getting used to standing still in them, but other than that they really require no practice at all. Thanks for your votes! You should try them!

HubTub I would buy these for the fun factor alone .. the fitness benefits would be a bonus! What type of surface would you recommend a newbie use until they get used to hopping/running around in them?

I really enjoyed reading this hub article, so I'm voting it Up + Interesting. Going to share it with my fitness circle on Google +.

Hi, El Ray: I apologize for the delay in responding. When I received my Kangoo Jumps, I actually practiced inside my house on the carpet for awhile, then I went outside onto concrete, grass, and anything else I came across. I just wanted to get the feel for them first on carpet, to make sure I did not slip. This was primarily because I have a back injury, though, and was playing it safe.

The Kangoo Jumps are very easy to become accustomed to. It only took me a matter of minutes to bounce around in them.

I know you will absolutely love them. They are a real hoot!

Thank you for taking the time to comment and for the votes and shares!
